They may not be able to pronounce it, but the wargames rules that are sweeping the nation have caught the imagination of the West Country. Not since the anti-tithe riots of the late nineties have such scenes been witnessessed. Armies and Keith McGlynn have been dusted down, long neglected DBM armies are restored to their proper place on the green cloth of dreams.
On the weekend of the 18th and 19th June, Andy Unwin😡 is organising the first competition. Held in the Tudor Arms, Slimbridge the venue is famous for its hospitality ( and the 1979 Thornbury Witch trials- case suspended)

Controversially, Andy regards 15mm as the “spawn of de deville” so it will be 25mm 300points, doubles. Four commands are permissible, any period. There will be four games over the weekend, 3.5 hours each game.
Hopefully, the photos above will give you just a flavour of what Keith McGlynn has in mind for Thornbury Modelling Show on the 7th August. This is a one Dayer, 25mm. My regular reader will remember the joy and heart break that this rip-roaring beauty of a comp has to offer.
Now for the bad news, die Fuhrer went and got herself born on the 19th June, and my father in law has organised his retirement holiday in first week of August. I hope these maxims give you some flavour of my feelings. Nevermind poor old me, you youngsters go off and enjoy yourselves. But if you see an empty pack of Quavers blowing across the car park, or else see an empty seat near the umpire’s naughty step, you know I shall be with you in spirit…..
