imageA big thank you to Club Trophies and Engravers, Cardiff Market

One week to go and in the words of Whitney, “I’m so excited.” All that is left to do is check a few more lists and we are ready. We have decided upon ten competition points for a win, five for a draw ( no outright winner after two and a half hours), with zero for a loss. There are also points for each enemy general that is destroyed by shooting or melee. The points are not given for an enemy general removed because his corps has been destroyed, nor if the enemy general has routed or evaded off table.

It really is too close to call for the top seeds. Don and Steve Hacker are highly fancied to win but Steve Price too is attracting good odds ( if he ever finishes in the time limit…..)

What matters of course is that we play in a manly fashion and have a good time. Chris Jackson has been muzzled especially for the weekend and he has even promised to read the rules at least once before next Saturday! The keen eyed amongst you will notice the prize for “best painted”. One of our more Brummie competitors has even threatened to bring his immaculate elephant army just to nab this one, so Don look out! Wishing you all a safe journey down and see you at 9.30 for what promises to be an excellent weekend!

  4. Where is this event (at a Stable near you …) does the venue have a sat.nav postcode and what about parking? I heard that leaving a car out in the open in Cardiff draws a crowd of locals gawping at the wonderous modern contraption?

  5. The last ‘outsider’ that asked so many questions was sent to the ‘wise lady’ for re-education! Go on the Firestorm website for route finding, my magic fire water (electricity) costs too many beads😜 massive car park right outside the venue, behind the Methadone clinic! Head for Cardiff Central railway station and we are in Trade Street. On the corner is Arriva trains and a car rental place ( although we are not quite sure what either ‘trains’ or ‘cars’ are😉

  17. It would appear that all the uber competitive players are preparing either bloody Hussites or Samurai. It’s a good thing that the Japanese never put cannons on wagons or wargames manufacturers would be run off their feet!

  18. Hey, don’t go all cheesy by upgrading those skirmishers! And, remember you will need two Alps, one for each flank. They can be like Steve Price’s portable Roman hills and forest set!

No problem my festival loving young friend. I could add a monthly calendar every two weeks with upcoming events like the old “weekly historical bloodbath” thread?
